About the course

Ireland’s income tax system applies different Schedules and Cases to different sources of income, each with its own rules for calculating taxable income, deductions and reliefs. Understanding where income belongs and how the relevant rules apply is essential when calculating tax liabilities and advising clients.

This course takes you through the taxation of trading and professional income, employment income and benefits in kind, and rental income under the relevant Schedules and Cases. You’ll also explore the treatment of other income, including short-term accommodation, deposit interest, foreign income and dividends or distributions.

You’ll come away with a stronger understanding of how to classify different sources of income, calculate taxable amounts and apply the appropriate deductions and allowances. Build the confidence to apply Ireland’s income tax rules correctly across a broad range of common client circumstances.
