  9. Adrian Kalchev –

  10. Tufel Ahmed Miah –

This course has been incredibly insightful, offering practical knowledge I can apply in my work and real-life scenarios. I have learned how to assess information critically, make informed decisions, and recognise the impact of cognitive biases. The concepts taught, such as heuristics, are particularly relevant in speeding up decision-making in uncertain situations, like the example of a traveller in lion country responding to a rustling in the bushes. I appreciated the emphasis on balancing risk and uncertainty, as captured perfectly in the phrase, “There is risk and uncertainty, unknown unknowns.” This captures the unpredictability of real-world situations and the importance of adaptability and thoughtfulness in decision-making. Overall, this course has given me a structured approach to problem-solving and critical thinking, which will be invaluable in my professional and personal life.

It’s really good to split experience into a structured way of having professional skepticism and re-engaging in a fresh way to one’s own usual approaches.

  27. Aaron Hyam –

Starts off slowly, but by section 2 onwards becomes a really good summary of a lot of principles, methods and structures we should regularly apply to various aspects of our work. A lot of it will be known to some readers, particularly those with more than a few years’ experience under their belt, but even for them it’ll still be useful as an aide memoire or consolidation of that knowledge all in one place. Good stuff!
